We've already seen guys from traditional powers get paid such as Bryce Young of Alabama and Quinn Ewers of Ohio State (who then flipped on Ohio State and transferred), but this week the first HBCU recruit cashed in at the expense of one of the traditional powerhouses when Travis Hunter flipped his commitment from Florida State to Jackson State, famously coached by one Deion Sanders.
With a rumored NIL deal of over 1 Million dollars from Barstool Sports, people are losing their ever loving minds. From Dabo Swinney who is throwing a hissy fit about no longer having total autonomy over players, but was quiet as a church mouse when his assistants were dropping n bombs on players but that's another post, to former coach Gene Chizik who famously (allegedly) paid Cam Newton to come to Auburn and save his job.
Players have always gotten paid. Now the players have a say in the matter and it's done in the open. You don't think buying farming equipment for the parents of the offensive lineman from Oklahoma, or getting a job for the father of a prized recruit isn't a form of payment?

The system is not fair, has never been fair, but now the players have taken a crumb of power from traditional powers. And if you truly are a great coach you adapt to the new way of life like your Sabans of the world or you begin a descent back to averageness like I imagine we are about to see from the esteemed Dabo now that he doesn't hold all the chips.
I think the fact Hunter flipped to an HBCU is what is rubbing a lot of these idiots the wrong way. Noted credit card fraud artist Doug Gottlieb has spent his entire day deciding everyone is cheering a kid making a terrible mistake due to the inferiority of Jackson State. Jackson State which has more Hall of Famers than, schools such as Clemson, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State and many more. Now had he chosen one of the schools listed, Dougie Credit Card or none of the others criticizing the move wouldn't have said a peep, but the rise of HBCUs in the traditional old boys club of getting the cream of the crop is upsetting the apple cart a little too much.
Really I think this comes down to an old adage that my uncle and others of a certain age say when folks like Dougie Credit Card Fraud jump up with an opinion in manners like this: Stay the hell out of black folks business. Also if you're this upset over where a 17 year old chooses to go to college you're a shitty human and you don't deserve nice things.
